Just look for wet areas. the back of the engine near the turbo has the water cooled EGR, so that is also an area for potential leaks. Mk6 EGR valve and cooler unit, I read, cannot be cleaned unlike the Mk5 ones. With modern fuel, technology and a reasonably looked after vehicle, they are not supposed to need maintenance. Furthermore, in the Mk6 the part is stuck far at the back of the engine such that the labour cost of a repair quoted by a dealer itself can exceed £600.
